Weekend Spa Break in Hampshire: Heckfield Place

Having visited Heckfield Place twice now, I can safely say it is one of the best if not THE best spa hotel experience in the UK.

And a well-deserved Conde Nast Traveller Reader’s Choice Award recipient, among many other accolades.

It’s a low-key, stress-free type of place that simply and effortlessly delivers on all accounts, starting with the rather convenient under-1-hour journey from London!

Both restaurants - Hearth and Marle, under the expert supervision of chef @skyegyngell - deliver best-in-class ethically and environmentally-friendly fresh produce, right from the biodynamic Home Farm on the grounds.

No surprise then to see Marle retaining, for a second year running, its well-earned Green Michelin star.

Everything starts with the soil here, hence the name, Marle - derived from Marlestone, a calcium-rich soil variety cultivated in abundance here.

The holistic approach to sustainable and regenerative farming also extends to Heckfield Place’s wellbeing philosophy. In October of this year, The Bothy Spa won the Tatler ‘Bright & Beautiful’ award for its new spa, blissfully interwoven into the surrounding woodlands.

Whether sitting in the hot tub, soaking in the views, or being serenaded by recorded birdsong in the sauna, everything is carefully arranged to provide a calming escape into nature.

The rooms are also comfortable and very tastefully decorated to the highest standards and with luxurious amenities. Nothing is left to chance here, and the service and execution is always top-notch.

My favourite time to visit is in April, when all 438 acres of the property are in full bloom - the fresh flowers grown on the estate are simply divine. But any day, no matter the season, is a perfect day to indulge in a 2-day spa retreat here.

Heckfield Place is where good food and health go hand in hand. The perfect place to decompress and lose oneself in nature.
